Vibrant Retreat

Vibrant Retreat is a 4,000 sq.ft. villa designed for a young couple in their early thirties as they began the next chapter of their lives together. They envisioned a home that felt contemporary, full of personality, and unapologetically colourful - a space that reflected their energy while remaining practical for everyday living.

Rather than relying on colour alone, the design focused on creating memorable spaces through thoughtful planning. One of the defining solutions emerged in the master bedroom, where the wardrobe was positioned behind the bed and separated with a custom metal partition. By rethinking a conventional bedroom layout, the design created a dedicated dressing space without compromising openness or functionality, reinforcing the idea that every room offers more possibilities than its initial plan suggests.

Across the villa, vibrant accents are balanced by a consistent use of matte veneer, creating a subtle thread that ties every space together despite each room expressing a different personality. The living room introduces warmth through a bold feature wall, while the double-height volume is anchored by a large mural that adds scale and character to the heart of the home. In the kitchen, a floating chimney complements the clean contemporary language while maintaining a practical and efficient workspace.

Although every room embraces its own identity, the home never feels disconnected. Materials, proportions, and detailing were carefully repeated throughout the villa, allowing bold colours and expressive elements to coexist within one cohesive design language.

Vibrant Retreat reinforced an important lesson for our studio: spaces should never be limited by conventional planning. With curiosity and an open mind, familiar layouts can be reimagined into solutions that are both more functional and more memorable. The result is a home that is joyful to experience today and thoughtfully designed for the years ahead.
